The Republic of Moldova and Romania are reinforcing their partnership in the field of security to directly address citizens’ needs and accelerate Moldova’s European integration. Minister of Internal Affairs, Daniella Misail-Nichitin, held meetings in Bucharest with Cristian Diaconescu, Presidential Advisor – Department of National Security, and Mircea Abrudean, President of the Romanian Senate, TRIBUNA reports.
The discussions focused on joint projects aimed at enhancing border security, improving citizen mobility, developing emergency response infrastructure, and implementing modern solutions for managing migration, asylum, and crisis situations. With support from the European Union, these initiatives align Moldova with EU standards in the fields of security and justice.
Concrete results are already visible: the Leova–Bumbăta border crossing now operates 24/7, offering greater freedom and flexibility of movement, while coordinated control at Giurgiulești–Galați reduces waiting times and streamlines cross-border traffic.
A key area of cooperation is cybersecurity and institutional resilience. Moldova and Romania are working together to protect IT infrastructure, prevent cyberattacks, and combat disinformation through a joint rapid response mechanism.
