Iurie Leancă spoke about how  began the history with the proposal of his candidature for the European Parliamentary elections

Iurie Leancă, vice premier for the European Integration, president of the European Popular Party of Moldova, is a candidate on the list of the party in  Bucharest – PRO Romania Party, led by Victor Ponta, in the elections for the European Parliament. Thus, the politician told where the proposal came from, TRIBUNA informs.

“The proposal came from Mr Ponta in January, when he was with colleagues in Chisinau, when we also signed a partnership agreement between the parties. We discussed the context of the elections in the European Parliament a little and we took the responsibility to collect signatures for PRO Romania among Moldovan citizens with Romanian citizenship. Under these circumstances, Mr Ponta, with whom I have a relationship based on trust and projects, came up with this unprecedented initiative, “Leancă said in the show “Point of Today ” from TVR Moldova.

He said that for one day he analyzed the proposal. “But then, obviously, I accepted, because I am pursuing the objective of anchoring of the Republic of Moldova in the European Union. This proposal honoured me and it is a matter of responsibility, it is an opportunity not only for me but also for citizens of the Republic of Moldova and Romania, “the deputy prime minister said.

Asked if he is able to get the mandate, Leancă said that PRO Romania is a new party, which enjoys popularity and is represented by professional people. According to him, the party would get 4-5 mandates in the European Parliament. “Even the smallest surveys show at least three mandates,” he said.

TRIBUNA states: Iurie Leancă is on the 4th position in the list of PRO Romania at the European Parliamentary elections on May 26, 2019.
