The head of the national Inspectorate for patrolling Marin Maksiyan listed today during a press conference the measures to ensure public order and security during the parliamentary elections and the consultative Republican referendum on February 24, 2019.
As TRIBUNA reports, Maksiyan stated that the police checked all the 2018 51 polling stations in the constituency.
“Also, recommendations were made to ensure the safety of polling stations, which opened at the set time and without any incidents. The police issued 58 permits to place pre-election advertising on transport units. More than 8244 police officers will be involved in ensuring security in the elections. In this regard, 4,000 employees will be involved in the protection of polling stations, as well as in ensuring public order near the polling stations, 544 employees will be included in the response teams. More than 4,000 employees will be involved in ensuring public order, in case of unforeseen situations”, he said.
According to Maxian, the process of issuance of the election documentation and ballot papers have already begun. “The police provide support to the heads of territorial electoral bodies. Since January 25, the police ensured public order at more than 49,623 electoral meetings, which were attended by more than 235,000 People. For this purpose, 3138 police officers were involved. At some meetings, incidents occurred, and the police recorded 153 such incidents. There were also more than 105 violations of various kinds, such as the posting of posters in the wrong places or intentional damage to the electoral panels. More than 33 administrative procedures have been initiated and 7 incidents involving candidates or their representatives have been recorded,” Maksian added.
