Moldova Faces Another Electricity Shortage This Evening

The Republic of Moldova is expected to face another electricity shortage this evening, TRIBUNA reports.

The shortfall is being driven by high electricity consumption during the ongoing heatwave, reduced output from several regional power plants, and lower water levels in the Danube River, which have affected their operations.

An electricity deficit is forecast during the 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. peak period:

  • 6:00–7:00 p.m. – approximately 62 MWh
  • 7:00–8:00 p.m. – approximately 129 MWh
  • 8:00–9:00 p.m. – approximately 112 MWh

The authorities say they are making every effort to secure the necessary electricity supply and, if required, will use emergency power mechanisms to maintain the stability of the national power system.

Officials note that voluntary reductions in electricity consumption during peak hours can help ease pressure on the energy system and avoid the need for more costly emergency measures.

Every action counts: citizens are encouraged to conserve electricity, especially between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
