Prime Minister Vasile Tofan said today, at the beginning of the Government meeting, that some expenditures need to be reduced, as the budgetary situation looks complicated. He also spoke about the 2027 budget, reports TRIBUNA.
In the context of the 2026 budget revisions approved by the Government, the prime minister stated: “The budgetary situation looks complicated — the budget deficit will increase to MDL 23 billion, or 5.95% of GDP. Our target must be to bring the deficit down to 3% of GDP.”
The official also said that greater rigor and discipline are needed to ensure that such a “large deficit” is not allowed next year.
“We need to be very rigorous and disciplined when adopting next year’s budget so that we have a more balanced budget and do not end up with such a large deficit,” the head of Government emphasized.
