The European Union (EU) remains the main destination for goods exported by economic agents from the Transnistrian region, TRIBUNA reports.
In the first half of 2026, exports from companies in the Transnistrian region to EU member states stayed at the same level as in the corresponding period of 2025, accounting for 76.9% of the region’s total external trade. Meanwhile, imports from the EU represented 41.5% of all goods brought into the region.
The leading export destinations are EU countries — particularly Romania, Italy, and Slovakia — while imports originate mainly from Ukraine, the EU, and China. These figures clearly show that companies from localities on the left bank of the Nistru and from Bender continue to maintain strong economic ties with the EU, which remains the most important external market for the region’s business environment.
“These data confirm the stable orientation of the Transnistrian region toward the EU’s commercial space, a process that directly supports the country’s economic reintegration. Such developments bring the two banks of the Nistru closer economically, as access to the European market requires companies in the region to apply the same rules, procedures, documents, and standards that are valid across the entire territory of the Republic of Moldova,” the Bureau for Reintegration Policies stated.
