The Parliamentary Assembly of the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Poland has adopted a joint declaration

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Poland (PA RM–RP) has adopted a joint declaration reaffirming its consistent support for the Republic of Moldova in the process of accession to the European Union. The document was approved during the 11th session of the PA RM–RP, hosted by the Sejm of the Republic of Poland.

The joint declaration was signed by the Vice President of the Parliament and Co‑Chair of the PA RM–RP, Doina Gherman, and by the Polish Co‑Chair, Szymon Hołownia, Deputy Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. The document addresses two major topics: the Republic of Moldova’s EU accession process — including Poland’s experience and best practices on its own path to the EU — and security in the Central and Eastern European region.

On the European integration dimension, the Parliamentary Assembly of Poland and Moldova welcomes the progress achieved by our country in the accession negotiations and underscores the importance of maintaining strong political support from EU member states so that the Republic of Moldova can reach its ambitious goal of joining the EU by 2030.

The document notes the opening of the first negotiation cluster, “Fundamental Values”, and supports the swift advancement of the accession process through the opening, as soon as possible, of negotiations on all remaining clusters, based on the merits and demonstrated progress of the Republic of Moldova.

It also acknowledges the commitment of the Moldovan authorities to rule‑of‑law reform, the fight against corruption, the modernization of public administration, and the strengthening of civil society. The declaration highlights Poland’s role as a key partner in this process, through expert cooperation, development assistance programs, and the transfer of legislative experience.

On the security dimension, the Parliamentary Assembly emphasizes that both the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Poland — as states directly bordering the conflict zone — feel the consequences of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, which negatively affects security, economic stability, and social resilience.

The declaration welcomes the solidarity shown by the authorities and citizens of both countries toward Ukraine, as well as the support provided to Ukrainian refugees, and reaffirms political support for Ukraine in its efforts to defend peace, freedom, and territorial integrity.

The document also reaffirms support for the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova, and calls for strengthening cooperation in border security, combating cross‑border crime, and enhancing the resilience of Moldovan authorities to hybrid threats.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Poland convened today in Warsaw for its 11th session, hosted by the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. Established on 25 July 2011 in Chișinău, the Assembly is a consultative interparliamentary body tasked with developing joint positions on issues and projects of bilateral interest. It meets annually in plenary sessions, alternating between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Poland.
