The State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, Vasile Șarban, successfully defended yesterday his PhD thesis in agricultural sciences, titled “Harnessing the fruiting potential of sweet cherry depending on cultivar, crown shape, and pruning period”, receiving the grade “excellent.”
This academic achievement reflects a professional path built on scientific rigor, practical experience, and a sustained commitment to the development of Moldova’s fruit‑growing sector.
The research contributes to the modernization of cherry orchards by offering practical solutions for increasing productivity, improving fruit quality, and adapting production technologies to current market requirements.
In the context of climate change and the need to enhance the competitiveness of agriculture, such studies provide important scientific support for agricultural policy development and for promoting modern technologies in the sector. Sweet cherry cultivation represents a segment with high export potential and added value, and the results of this research help strengthen this field.
