Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi met with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Petra Bayr, TRIBUNA reports.
The discussion focused on recent developments within the Council of Europe and reaffirmed the strong level of cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the organization. Both officials highlighted the Council of Europe’s essential contribution over the past three decades to strengthening democratic institutions, promoting the rule of law, and protecting human rights in the Republic of Moldova.
A key topic on the agenda was Moldova’s ongoing Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. In this context, the importance of holding the Committee of Ministers meeting in Chișinău — an event that will bring together the foreign ministers of all 46 member states — was underscored.
PACE President Petra Bayr welcomed Moldova’s resilience in countering disinformation and information manipulation, noting that the good practices developed by the country in this field could serve as an example for other states. She also reaffirmed the commitment to maintaining and deepening the long‑term partnership with the Republic of Moldova, including through the Parliamentary Assembly.
On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi signed a message in the “Golden Book” of the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, emphasizing PACE’s role in strengthening democracy amid current geopolitical developments.
