Vladislav Cojuhari, Minister of Justice, stated: “In recent years, the justice system has undergone several changes. All had a single purpose — to make the fight against corruption more effective and to strengthen state institutions”, TRIBUNA reports.
“At present, we note significant progress in combating the scourge of corruption. State institutions have managed to withstand unprecedented external interference, the number of cases reaching court has doubled, and for the first time we have convictions of high-level public officials. Our goal is for institutions to function, and we, in turn, will support and encourage them in this endeavor,” he declared.
The minister also mentioned that two weeks ago a permanent working group was established, comprising the heads of law enforcement institutions, with the aim of enhancing institutional cooperation.
“We are carefully analyzing both the recommendations of the Venice Commission and those formulated by the ministry’s team. Subsequently, we will present a set of necessary measures to amend the regulatory framework. All of this comes down to the fundamental objective — the efficiency of institutions in fighting corruption,” emphasized Vladislav Cojuhari.
