Through close collaboration and open, productive discussions, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission carried out in the Republic of Moldova between December 4–17 this year provided a clear picture of the state of the Moldovan economy, outlining priority areas for intervention. The statement was made by the Head of Mission, Alina Iancu, during a meeting with Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, TRIBUNA reports.
The IMF Mission Head also stated that there is “a gradual recovery of economic growth, and the EU accession process together with the EU-supported Growth Plan provide a unique opportunity to boost productivity, accelerate long-term economic growth, and improve citizens’ living standards.”
It should be noted that, based on the mission’s preliminary conclusions, the team of experts will prepare a report which, subject to approval by IMF management, will be submitted for discussion and endorsement by the IMF Executive Board.
