Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi held a press conference reviewing the key achievements and initiatives promoted since taking office. The event offered a retrospective of bilateral and multilateral efforts, with a focus on strengthening cooperation with the European Union and strategic partners, as well as advancing Moldova’s interests on the international stage, TRIBUNA reports.
During his tenure, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs contributed to expanding the diplomatic network, deepening political and economic dialogue with partner states, modernizing consular services, and supporting Moldovan citizens abroad. Diplomatic efforts also focused on advancing Moldova’s European path and enhancing its international visibility.
Popșoi highlighted his extensive foreign visits: “During this mandate, I held over 64 bilateral meetings with foreign ministers from around the world and conducted 40 official visits to countries such as Germany, France, Italy, the UK, the USA, Japan, Saudi Arabia, India, and Nepal. I made four visits each to Romania and Ukraine, where I met with foreign ministers, prime ministers, and the presidents of Romania and Ukraine, Nicușor Dan and Volodymyr Zelensky. These visits focused on cooperation in energy, cybersecurity, and infrastructure.”
He also hosted over 30 official visits in Chișinău from counterparts in Romania, Ukraine, Germany, France, the Benelux countries, and the Nordic-Baltic Format (NB8). These meetings yielded concrete results: financial and technical support, new cooperation opportunities, and increased visibility for Moldova.
“I also carried out the first official visits since Independence to Saudi Arabia and Nepal.”
“Moldova today has more friends than ever. It is a respected state, firmly committed to European integration. Under the leadership of President Maia Sandu, I am confident we will continue to achieve our goals and build a country we can be proud of.
After 634 days at the helm of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I look back with satisfaction and gratitude for all we’ve accomplished. Each day was a lesson in responsibility, dialogue, and dedication to our country,” the minister concluded.
