International Tobacco is one of the largest taxpayers in Moldova’s tobacco industry, ranking second in excise duty payments during the first half of 2025, with a contribution of 134.3 million lei — according to official data from the State Tax Service.
The company holds second place in the industry’s taxpayer rankings, following Tutun CTC, which paid 283.7 million lei. In total, major taxpayers transferred 13.8 billion lei to the national public budget, representing 35.2% of fiscal revenues for the period.
It is worth noting that International Tobacco has consistently increased its excise payments between 2020 and 2025:
- 2025 (H1): 134.3 million lei
- 2024: estimated between 220–230 million lei/year
- 2023: estimated between 160–190 million lei/year
- 2022: estimated between 140–160 million lei/year
International Tobacco Moldova is one of the leading cigarette producers in the Republic of Moldova. It was founded in 1962 under the name Orhei Tobacco Factory. The company was modernized in 2005 and now operates as an integrated provider of products and services in the tobacco industry.
