The Orhei Tobacco Factory, International Tobacco SRL, one of the largest businesses and taxpayers in the Republic of Moldova, is celebrating its 21st anniversary today, TRIBUNA reports.
“We are marking 21 years since the rebranding in 2005, but the Orhei Tobacco Factory has a rich history spanning several decades. Over the years, the factory has gone through numerous changes and challenges, managing to survive both the collapse of the Soviet Union and the turbulent 1990s, when much of the national economy was destroyed. Over the past two decades, the factory has followed an upward trend. Although the pace of development has not been particularly rapid, it has nevertheless allowed us to remain one of the key companies in the national economy, as confirmed by official figures,” said Serghei Omelico, Administrator of the Orhei Tobacco Factory, International Tobacco SRL.
International Tobacco SRL employs more than 80 people and pays approximately 450 million Moldovan lei annually in taxes and duties to the state budget. The company’s management takes pride in the fact that it not only creates jobs but also contributes to the country’s development through the taxes it pays.
The company is also a significant investor. In recent years alone, investments totaling tens of millions of lei have been made in the factory, with the aim of ensuring its continuous development.
International Tobacco SRL’s success can also be attributed to its strong and effective partnerships. Through its cooperation with AGOS Green, the largest producer of raw tobacco materials in the Republic of Moldova, International Tobacco contributes to maintaining and even developing an industry that once played a leading role in the Moldovan economy. Another partner of International Tobacco SRL is Prologistic-Com SRL, one of the most important distributors of domestically manufactured products.
“We believe that International Tobacco is still far from fully realizing its potential. Therefore, we will continue our efforts to expand, strengthen our position, and make the most of all existing opportunities. We will continue investing in increasing the factory’s production capacity, including through the implementation of new technologies. At the same time, we will ensure that our employees benefit from the best possible working conditions and receive decent wages here at home, in the Republic of Moldova,” Serghei Omelico stated.
