Between December 1–12, 2025, a mission from the Fiscal Affairs Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), dedicated to tax administration in the Republic of Moldova, is being carried out at the State Tax Service.
The mission’s work began at the Ministry of Finance, where Minister Andrian Gavriliță met with the IMF’s Resident Representative in Moldova, Svetlana Cerovich, and the mission team led by Mr. Enriko Aav, Senior Economist within FAD, together with experts in analysis and management of tax compliance risks, TRIBUNA reports.
Discussions focused on the priorities of modernizing tax administration, the directions, and objectives of the mission. Minister Andrian Gavriliță emphasized the essential role of international expertise in strengthening institutional capacities and aligning with global best practices.
The mission aims to support the State Tax Service in developing a compliance program across the entire organization; applying compliance risk management principles in the core functions of tax administration; drafting a foundational document on the compliance program; and strengthening analytical capacities for assessing tax compliance risks.
Over the next two weeks, IMF experts will hold meetings with representatives of the State Tax Service to review progress and establish the next steps. At the end, the mission will prepare a report with recommendations.
