By 2030, the Republic of Moldova will be ready for full integration into the European customs area, enabling barrier-free cross-border trade, reduced bureaucracy for businesses, increased competitiveness of the national economy, and greater investment attraction.
To this end, the Government has approved the National Program and Action Plan for the digitalization of customs procedures and the integration of the Customs Service’s information systems with those of the European Union.
The program includes the modernization of customs infrastructure—new equipment and information systems to ensure fast and secure data exchange with EU customs authorities. Customs personnel will also be trained to efficiently use new technologies and adapt operational processes.
Digitalizing customs procedures will support the business environment, significantly reduce the time and costs for economic operators in customs clearance, and facilitate cross-border trade and Moldovan enterprises’ access to the EU market.
Additionally, the use of advanced IT solutions will enhance border security and protection, enabling rapid identification of suspicious goods and combating illegal trafficking.
