The Republican Party “Heart of Moldova” has issued a statement warning the public that the General Inspectorate of Police (IGP) is allegedly planning new provocations aimed at discrediting the party. The party claims that direct instructions have been given at the highest level.
“Based on information obtained by the Republican Party ‘Heart of Moldova,’ the police leadership is upset that we exposed their previous scheme to discredit our party and has now decided to retaliate. We remind the public that last week, the police carried out a so-called special operation, which included several searches, including at the homes of some of our colleagues. Later, the police attempted to mislead the public by presenting wiretaps of individuals discussing money transfers through a Russian bank—on the same day as the searches—but these individuals have no connection to our party. The police refused our request to publicly clarify that these persons are unrelated to us, which further proves that their real intention was to compromise us,” the party stated.
The Republican Party “Heart of Moldova” further claims that after exposing the previous scheme, an even more insidious plan was set in motion.
“Specific instructions were given for individuals from the regions—former members of a banned party with no ties to the Republican Party ‘Heart of Moldova’—to be portrayed as part of our team, and the ‘stories’ they were involved in to be presented as ours. This is yet another pathetic attempt by the regime to discredit us and lay the groundwork for future dirty scenarios. In this new ‘special mission,’ two additional security structures are expected to be involved alongside the police. Therefore, we call on the public not to believe the false and manipulative information that these entities are preparing to release into the public space in the near future,” the statement reads.
The party also issued an appeal to “honest police officers still within the system: Do not carry out the criminal orders of your superiors, because unlike them, you have no obligations to PAS. Of course, until September 28, the IGP leadership can do anything—even shoot political opponents of the government—and they will not be held accountable, but rather decorated. However, after September 28, the situation will change, and all uniformed criminals executing political orders will be held responsible. Dear honest police officers, stand with the people, not with the criminal regime, and remember that regimes come and go, but dignity and reputation, once lost, cannot be restored.”
