President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, met today with European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, who is on an official visit to Chișinău. The discussions focused on the concrete steps our country is taking in the EU accession process, including the evaluation of national legislation in relation to the EU acquis, according to TRIBUNA.
The Head of State emphasized that both the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine are prepared to advance to the next stage of negotiations, in a merit-based process that reflects the efforts and progress of both countries.
The officials also discussed ongoing projects under the Growth Plan for Moldova, a €1.9 billion investment program. Part of the funds, disbursed this summer, were directed toward initiatives with direct benefits for citizens: rehabilitation of over 200 km of regional and local roads, modernization of school cafeterias to provide free meals for students starting in September, grant support for entrepreneurs, youth programs, and equipment for waste collection in villages.
The President also welcomed the disbursement of the next tranche of €18.9 million, following the progress made by the Republic of Moldova.
Another topic addressed was the authorities’ efforts to safeguard the integrity of the parliamentary elections scheduled for September 28, in the context of foreign interference in the democratic process. President Maia Sandu stressed that state institutions are acting firmly and in coordination to protect the will of the people.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared vision of a European future for the Republic of Moldova — the only path to ensuring the country’s independence, peace, and the well-being of its citizens.<!
