The deputy Sergiu Sirbu, the head of the parliamentary delegation to the OSCE PA, attends the Winter Meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. The 18th meeting takes place in Vienna on 21-22 February 2019.
As TRIBUNA informs, according to a press release, the meeting will start with the messages of the President of the Austrian National Council Wolfgang Sobotka, President of OSCE PA George Tsereteli, General Secretary of OSCE Thomas Greminger as well as the President of OSCE and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia Miroslav Lajčák.
“Today, on the first day of the meeting, the three General Committees of the OSCE PA – General Committee on Political Affairs and Security, General Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs, General Committee on Economic Affairs, Science, Technology and environment will take place. There will be a series of topics related to political and security affairs, the economy and the environment, as well as human rights and humanitarian issues. At the same time, debates will be held on issues regarding the human rights restrictions in emergency situations, the fight against corruption, money laundering and terrorism financing, the application of OSCE instruments and mechanisms to resolve prolonged conflicts. The winter meeting will end tomorrow with a joint session of the three commissions, where the reports of the special representatives of the OSCE PA and the presidents of the committees of migration and counter-terrorism will be heard. Representatives of the OSCE observation missions of elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, the United States and Armenia will present reports, followed by discussions.’’
It is worth mentioning that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe consists of 323 parliamentarians, representatives of the legislatures in 57 countries.
