Moldovan parliament appoints new deputy speaker

The MP of European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM), Valeriu Ghiletchi, was elected today with the vote of 51 MPs as deputy speaker of parliament, formerly held by head of PPEM, Iurie Leanca.

The nomination for the position was made by Speaker of Parliament, Andrian Candu, after Iurie Leanca announced of giving up his mandate.

Valeriu Ghiletchi is a radio and telecommunication engineer and in 2009 he was elected MP in the Parliament of Moldova from the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM). Afterwards, he abandoned PLDM, setting the European People’s group of Moldova.
