The cabinet supports the draft law amending and supplementing the Law on identity documents in the national passport system. Thus, according to the legislative initiative submitted by a group of MPs, the mention of blood group will be excluded from the identity card, passport, diplomatic passport and service passport, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Another amendment aims at extending the validity of the passport from 7 to 10 years for people over 16 years.

Also, it is planned to issue the electronic identity card with digital signature and public key certificates. Its term of validity shall be ten years.
