Moldova Expo Park. Zinaida Popa: “Our goal is not just to modernize Moldexpo, but to redefine its role in Moldova’s economy”

The International Exhibition Centre Moldexpo presented the MXP – Moldova Expo Park concept on October 14, 2026. The strategic project aims to transform the existing exhibition centre into a multifunctional business park with the ambition of becoming a regional business hub. The new vision was presented at a press conference by Zinaida Popa, Director of Moldexpo, marking 30 years since the institution’s establishment and 70 years of exhibition tradition in the Republic of Moldova, TRIBUNA reports.

“Through Moldova Expo Park, we aim to move beyond the traditional exhibition model and develop a modern economic platform where manufacturers, entrepreneurs, and investors can benefit from integrated services, including product promotion, access to new markets, B2B meetings, conferences, international forums, training programmes, and partnership opportunities.

We want Moldova Expo Park to become a place where businesses connect, ideas grow, communities develop, and economic opportunities are transformed into tangible results. Our goal is no longer simply to provide exhibition space. It is to create economic value. This is the paradigm shift we believe is necessary. From vision to concrete action,” Zinaida Popa emphasized.

Modernizing Infrastructure and Expanding Business Opportunities

The transformation of Moldexpo stems from the need to adapt to the changing requirements of the business environment and the evolution of the international exhibition industry. The centre’s existing infrastructure has reached its capacity limits. To host large-scale events and attract more international participants, expanded exhibition areas, modern pavilions, conference halls, and dedicated business meeting spaces are needed.

To this end, a Strategic Development Programme for 2025–2029 has been developed, alongside a concept for the functional use of the site. The plan envisages five distinct zones dedicated to exhibitions, business activities, recreation, green spaces, and activities with tourism potential.

The new vision extends beyond exhibition infrastructure to include spaces designed for the wider community. Projects currently in the planning stage include the creation of a sakura avenue to help connect the Moldexpo grounds with Valea Morilor Park, the development of themed green spaces, and the expansion of sports and recreational facilities, including courts for padel and pickleball.

Tendering procedures have already been initiated for some of these initiatives, while contracts have been signed for others, with coordination and implementation stages to follow.

At the same time, work continues on modernizing access control systems, improving parking management, and upgrading video surveillance to provide better conditions and a safer environment for exhibitors and visitors.

A Diversified Exhibition Portfolio and Growing Revenue

Over the past two years, Moldexpo has diversified its event portfolio by introducing new exhibition concepts, including Home Sweet Home, Beauty Autumn, Beauty Prof, and a real estate exhibition.

The centre has also developed an integrated concept for the food and HoReCa industries, bringing together the Food & Drinks, Food Technology, and Packaging Depot exhibitions.

The professional component of its events has been expanded through forums, congresses, and specialized meetings designed to facilitate knowledge-sharing and strengthen business relationships.

These efforts have contributed to an increase of more than 6% in revenue from core exhibition activities over the past two years.

Another significant achievement was obtaining ISO certification in quality management in 2025, followed by a surveillance assessment in 2026.

International Partnerships and Investment Opportunities

Strengthening cooperation between government institutions, the business community, and potential investors is considered essential to delivering the Moldova Expo Park project.

Discussions are currently underway with the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization and the Government of the Republic of Moldova to identify solutions for modernizing and developing the centre.

At the same time, discussions are being held with potential partners from Kazakhstan, Greece, Romania, and Slovenia to explore opportunities for international cooperation, knowledge-sharing, and the development of joint projects.

“Our goal is not just to modernize Moldexpo. We aim to redefine its role in the economy of the Republic of Moldova,” Zinaida Popa stated.
