Finance Minister Victoria Belous held a meeting with Robert Saum, the World Bank’s Regional Director for Eastern Europe, during which they discussed cooperation priorities for the period ahead and the World Bank’s contribution to Moldova’s economic development, TRIBUNA reports.

The discussions focused on macroeconomic developments and fiscal policy for next year, as well as measures needed to continue reforms, improve the efficiency of public spending, and modernize the public-sector pay system. Particular emphasis was placed on accelerating reforms already underway and increasing the pace of implementation of projects supported by the World Bank.

The parties also discussed technical assistance and financing opportunities for new projects, with prospects for 2027 in areas including infrastructure, the energy sector, water and sanitation. They also addressed results-based programs aimed at using resources efficiently and delivering concrete outcomes for citizens.

Victoria Belous expressed appreciation for the World Bank’s continued support for Moldova’s development and reform agenda, noting that stronger cooperation and making effective use of development partners’ expertise are important for economic growth and advancing the country’s European path.
