Parcels ordered from international marketplaces, including Temu, will be subject to taxation starting October 1, 2026. Finance Minister Victoria Belous said the measure is aimed at supporting domestic entrepreneurs, TRIBUNA reports.

“The amounts are small, but the number of parcels is constantly increasing. Last year, more than 10 million parcels entered the country, and this number continues to grow.

We seek to ensure balance and fair conditions for local entrepreneurs. When importing goods, they pay VAT, customs duties, local taxes and fees, as well as social contributions, which puts them at a disadvantage compared with international platforms. The latter deliver goods without paying taxes. This creates unfair competition, and we need to act as quickly as possible to restore the balance,” the minister explained during the “Rezoomat” program on Realitatea Live.

It should be noted that the 2027 budgetary and tax policy draft provides that parcels ordered from international online marketplaces will be subject to a 20% tax, along with a one-time fee of 12 lei.
