The Republic of Moldova recorded a 25% increase in international tourist arrivals in the first half of 2026 compared with the same period last year. This is the highest growth recorded in Europe during this period, according to the latest World Tourism Barometer published by UN Tourism (World Tourism Organization), TRIBUNA reports.

For comparison, Greece and Ireland each recorded a 15% increase in tourist arrivals.

The result comes against a backdrop of international tourism growing by just 0.4% worldwide in the first half of the year. Europe recorded 3% growth, making it one of the best-performing regions.

The increase in the number of tourists indicates that Moldova is becoming increasingly attractive as a tourist destination, offering visitors authentic experiences, less crowded places, and opportunities to discover the country’s culture, cuisine, wines and landscapes.

The result confirms Moldova’s tourism potential and highlights the importance of continuing investments in infrastructure, destination promotion, and the development of new tourism products and experiences.

Through the measures outlined in the Tourism Development Programme, the authorities aim to make better use of this potential and make Moldova more visible and accessible to tourists from both the country and abroad.
