The Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova is marking Customs Officer Day and the 35th anniversary of its establishment. The anniversary event brought together generations of customs officers who have contributed to the institution’s development, from the early days of the national customs system to its current stage of modernization and European integration, reports TRIBUNA.

Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, who attended the event, spoke about the Customs Service’s development priorities, with a focus on improved risk management and facilitating business activity.

“We must focus primarily on risks and channel resources where abuses are greatest. At the same time, alongside our control function, we must make it easier for businesses to operate and encourage trusted operators.

I thank the employees of the Customs Service for their contribution to the institution’s development. The Customs Service has made significant progress and will continue to become part of the European Union’s customs system,” Prime Minister Vasile Tofan said.

In recognition of the professionalism, responsibility, and dedication demonstrated in carrying out their duties, the Prime Minister presented a number of employees with Certificates of Merit from the Government of the Republic of Moldova.
