The Court of Appeal South partially upheld the appeals filed by the lawyers of former Chairman of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia (PAG) Dmitry Konstantinov, reducing the 12-year prison sentence imposed by the court of first instance, TRIBUNA reports, citing the IPN news agency.

Under the new ruling, Konstantinov was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in a semi-closed penitentiary facility, as well as 8 years in a closed penitentiary facility.

It should be recalled that in December 2025, the Comrat Court sentenced Dmitry Konstantinov in absentia to 12 years in prison for abuse of office and the embezzlement of millions of lei.
