Elections for the People’s Assembly to be held on March 22, 2026

At today’s session, the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia (NSG) decided that elections for deputies will take place on March 22, 2026. The second round of voting is scheduled two weeks later, on April 5.

The Assembly also acknowledged the resignation of Dmitri Constantinov from his position as Speaker. In his remarks, Constantinov explained that he chose to focus on his health and, at the same time, to respond to critics who accused him of delaying the setting of the election date.

Following the resignation, Nicolae Ormanji was elected Acting Speaker of the People’s Assembly. His candidacy was supported by 15 of the 22 deputies present at the session.
