Customs Service Colonel and Renowned Collector Petru Costin Could Set His Third Guinness World Record on August 15

On the eve of the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Moldova’s Independence, Customs Service Colonel and renowned collector Petru Costin will make another attempt to set a Guinness World Record, TRIBUNA reports.

The event will take place on Saturday, August 15, 2026, starting at 7:30 a.m., at the “Petru Costin” Collections Gallery of the Ialoveni District Council, located at 4 Ștefan cel Mare Street in the city of Ialoveni.

This time, Petru Costin aims to set a new world record in the category “largest number of horseshoes that were previously in use,” continuing his impressive work of preserving and promoting Moldova’s historical and cultural heritage.

Petru Costin is already the holder of two Guinness World Records. His first record was set in 2011, with a collection of 3,200 horseshoes. In 2021, he broke his own record by presenting 13,855 horseshoes, an achievement officially certified by Guinness World Records.

Through his impressive collections and internationally recognized achievements, Petru Costin contributes to promoting the cultural heritage of the Republic of Moldova and strengthening the country’s international image.

A special place in this story is held by Ialoveni District, which is home to important internationally recognized landmarks and achievements, including the Guinness record held by the Mileștii Mici Wine Complex for the world’s largest wine cellar by number of bottles.

The attempt is supported by the Ialoveni District Council and the Museum of the Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova.

The Ialoveni District Council invites everyone interested to attend this special event and closely follow the complex process of verifying, counting and certifying the collection, as part of another attempt to write the name of the Republic of Moldova into the history of Guinness World Records.
