Environment Minister Gheorghe Hajder announced that the water level in the Novodnistrovsk reservoir has fallen by another 25 cm since the beginning of August and currently stands at 112.76 m, compared with the normal retention level of 121 m, TRIBUNA reports.

The official recalled that in July, the water level in the reservoir fell by approximately one meter. In the absence of precipitation in the upper Dniester basin, the same downward trend is expected to continue in August.

“August and September will be the most critical months from a hydrological standpoint. Weather forecasts do not indicate any precipitation that could improve the situation in the upper basin of the Dniester River during this period, with rainfall expected only from October. In the meantime, it is essential that we adapt and conserve as much water as possible in order to successfully overcome the crisis.

The Dniester Commission will meet tomorrow, where we will analyze the hydrological situation and its evolution,” the minister added.
