Moldexpo has launched a redevelopment project for one of the main access avenues leading into the exhibition complex.

The area will undergo a complete transformation into a modern sakura-lined promenade featuring new lighting, urban furniture, and recreational spaces. The avenue will connect the Moldexpo grounds with Valea Morilor Park. The project is an important step in a broader effort to revitalize and modernize the Moldexpo complex.

The redevelopment plan preserves the current layout of the avenue while widening it toward the perimeter fence and creating a new representative entrance gate to the exhibition center. The area will also be equipped with modern lighting and street furniture.

“Our goal is very clear: to develop an area that is greatly appreciated by the public but has unfortunately been neglected and underfunded for many years,” said Moldexpo Director Zinaida Popa.

The institution aims to transform Moldexpo into an attractive destination for the community throughout the year.

“We want to turn Moldexpo’s neglected areas into modern public spaces dedicated to sports, recreation, and leisure. Our goal is to build communities and make Moldexpo a welcoming place not only during exhibitions and events but throughout the year,” Zinaida Popa said.

The director added that the new avenue will create a direct connection between Moldexpo and Valea Morilor Park.

“Our intention is to link the Moldexpo area with Valea Morilor through a modern sakura-lined promenade that will provide a natural connection between the two spaces,” Zinaida Popa stated.

During the press conference, officials also addressed the long-standing issue of water and mud accumulation near the Moldexpo fence, caused by natural springs flowing from the adjacent forested area.

“We are very pleased that the Chișinău City Hall has finally begun the necessary works to resolve the issue of the forest springs, which had been carrying water and mud onto the Moldexpo grounds. The important thing is that this problem is finally being addressed,” the director said.

A public tender for the construction works on the new avenue will be launched later this week.
