Children with disabilities will receive an additional annual financial support of 3,000 lei every June. A draft law introducing this measure was adopted in the second reading by 84 MPs.
A total of 13,582 children will benefit from this support. The payment will be issued automatically, without the need to submit an application. More than 41 million lei will be allocated from the state budget to implement the measure.
The legislative initiative belongs to MP Ludmila Adamciuc from the Party of Action and Solidarity parliamentary faction. According to the explanatory note, the draft law aims to strengthen social protection for families caring for children with disabilities by compensating additional expenses related to care, rehabilitation, mobility, and social integration. The initiative also seeks to improve living standards and promote social inclusion for children with special needs.
Under current legislation, children with disabilities receive, until the age of 18, a social allowance equivalent to the minimum pension for persons with special needs. At present, children with severe disabilities receive a monthly allowance of 2,448.50 lei, those with pronounced disabilities — 2,285.27 lei, and children with moderate disabilities — 1,632.34 lei.
