Vlad Țurcanu announced his resignation from the position of Director General of “Teleradio-Moldova” amid the scandal surrounding the jury scores awarded to Romania (3 points) and Ukraine (0 points) at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, TRIBUNA reports.
“Even though we distanced ourselves from the decisions of the jury appointed to vote at Eurovision, the vote remains the responsibility of the institution and mine as its head. The serious issue is that the jury failed to take into account the sensitive aspects of our relations with our neighbors: Romania and Ukraine.
Through my resignation, I want to send a clear message that our fraternal relations with Romania, as well as our gratitude and respect for Ukraine’s sacrifice, remain unchanged. Our attitude toward Ukraine is not worth 0 points, and our feelings for Romania are nothing but love”, he stated.
The official also said that he does not want the institution’s activity to be affected by the “sometimes vehement, although at times justified, reactions of the public.”
