Zinaida Popa on the “Moldexpo” auction: Economic operators have been selected, investments exceed 10 million lei. Now the ball is in the Chișinău City Hall’s court

The C.I.E. Moldexpo announced today, during a press conference, the results of the auction for leasing areas designated for the development of three new leisure and recreation zones on the territory of the exhibition complex.

The general director of C.I.E. Moldexpo, Zinaida Popa, stated that the projects are part of the second stage of the modernization and development plan of Moldexpo and include the arrangement of a padel park, pickleball and badminton courts, as well as the development of a modern gastronomic area.

“Interest in the auction was record-breaking. 20 participants registered, and for the development of the padel area alone, 10 economic operators competed. We placed special emphasis on the sports component, as we believe that sport means health, balance, and directly contributes to people’s comfort and quality of life. We are pleased by the high level of interest shown in these projects and by the fact that the business environment is ready to invest in the development of modern and attractive spaces for citizens,” said Zinaida Popa.

Following the auction, C.I.E. Moldexpo will collect around 6.8 million lei annually, while over the next 7 years the projects are expected to generate additional revenues of approximately 48 million lei for the institution’s core activity.

“These are funds that we will use to develop new projects and continue modernizing Moldexpo’s infrastructure,” she emphasized.

She also noted that, in order to start the works, the issuance of the urban planning certificate for the first stage is required.

“I believe that the municipal authorities fully understand the importance of these projects for the city and the community. Therefore, I cannot even consider the idea that the development of this area could be blocked. Now the ball is in the court of the Chișinău City Hall, and we hope that all necessary procedures will be carried out as quickly as possible, in the interest of the people and the city’s development,” said Zinaida Popa.

The new projects aim to transform the Moldexpo territory into a modern multifunctional space, dedicated both to exhibition and economic activities, as well as to recreation and sports for the community. The Moldexpo administration estimates that the first visible changes could appear in approximately three months after the completion of administrative procedures and contract signing.
