The legal committees of the parliaments of Moldova, Romania, Ukraine, and Albania will convene for their third joint working session, hosted by the Romanian Senate. The event will take place on 22–25 January in Moisei, Maramureș County. Representatives from the parliaments of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Georgia will also attend as observers and dialogue partners.
The Moldovan delegation will be led by Veronica Roșca, Chair of the Legal Committee for Appointments and Immunities. The delegation includes MPs Igor Chiriac, Igor Talmazan, Vladimir Rusu, Artemie Cătănoi, and Marcela Adam, Secretary of the Committee on Culture, Education, Research, Youth, Sports, and Media.
The agenda consists of three discussion panels. The first focuses on European integration and the rule of law, highlighting progress and challenges in aligning national legislation with the EU acquis. Topics include judicial independence, constitutional and legislative reforms, anti‑corruption efforts, the functioning of democratic institutions, and the protection of fundamental human rights.
The second panel will address human trafficking and cross‑border organized crime, with participants formulating legislative recommendations on new forms of exploitation, prevention of minor recruitment, and strengthening interinstitutional and judicial cooperation.
The third panel will examine domestic violence and victim protection, focusing on harmonizing legislation with European standards, improving prevention mechanisms, supporting vulnerable groups, and enhancing cooperation between justice, police, and social services.
The joint meetings of legal committees were first launched in 2024 at the initiative of the Romanian Senate, bringing together MPs from Moldova, Ukraine, and Romania.
