Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi met today with the President of the Republic of Albania, Bajram Begaj, who is on an official visit to Chișinău, TRIBUNA reports.
The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral dialogue in the context of the EU candidate status of both the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Albania. The parties emphasized the importance of close cooperation to advance the European path of both states, including by making use of the opportunities offered by the EU enlargement process.
Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi praised Albania’s experience in the EU accession process and its openness to supporting the Republic of Moldova in this effort.
“Albania is an important partner for the Republic of Moldova, and its expertise in European integration is a valuable asset for our reform efforts. We are interested in intensifying cooperation through exchanges of expertise and best practices, as well as developing joint projects,” Minister Mihai Popșoi stated.
The talks also highlighted the importance of regional cooperation and coordination within multilateral formats as essential tools for promoting stability, security, and sustainable development in the region.
Additionally, the parties discussed expanding cooperation in the economic and commercial fields, with a focus on identifying new opportunities, including in the tourism sector. Both countries’ potential to develop sustainable economic partnerships was underlined, contributing to increased trade, investment attraction, and stronger ties between business communities.
For his part, President Bajram Begaj praised the nature of bilateral relations and expressed his country’s commitment to supporting the European path of the Republic of Moldova.
