In response to public reports regarding the detected case (a truck carrying weapons) at the Leușeni–Albița border crossing point, the Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova issued the following statement:

“During the coordinated control at the Moldova–Romania border, initial suspicions were raised by a Moldovan customs officer, who informed colleagues from the Romanian customs authority. Based on these indications, a joint decision was made to scan the vehicle on its way out of the Republic of Moldova — an operation carried out by the Romanian side in accordance with established procedures.

Following the findings, criminal proceedings have been initiated in the Republic of Moldova, and the case is being investigated by the competent security authorities under the legal framework. The Customs Service is providing full support to the investigative bodies and maintains ongoing communication with the involved Romanian authorities.

Given the nature of the ongoing investigation, no further details can be disclosed at this stage in order to avoid compromising procedural actions and specific national security measures. We will provide updates when the progress of the investigation allows.”
