Today, officers from the National Investigation Inspectorate (INI), together with prosecutors from PCCOCS and police from BPDS “Fulger,” carried out searches in multiple locations across the country regarding the mercenary activities of Moldovan citizens in Ukraine and other states. The operation was conducted in cooperation with Ukrainian authorities and the Europol agency, reports TRIBUNA.
Following investigations, law enforcement obtained evidence indicating that the suspects had intentionally joined illegal paramilitary formations, such as “Wagner” and similar groups, motivated by financial gain — both in Ukraine and other countries. In exchange for promised payments, they allegedly participated as combatants in various armed conflicts, including the war in Ukraine.
During the searches, mobile phones, military equipment, illegally held ammunition, and other items relevant to the criminal case were discovered and seized.
The suspects are being investigated while remaining at liberty, and the criminal investigations are ongoing.
