Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi participated in the meeting of foreign ministers on security and interregional connectivity, held in Luxembourg as part of the European Union’s Foreign Affairs Council. The event was hosted at the invitation of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, and the European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jozef Síkela, TRIBUNA reports.
Minister Popșoi delivered remarks during two sessions: one focused on security, bringing together countries from the Black Sea region and EU member states, and another dedicated to connectivity, which also included Central Asian countries.
Foreign ministers congratulated the Republic of Moldova for its steadfast commitment to the European path and reaffirmed the full support of EU member states for Moldova’s advancement toward integration.
“The citizens of the Republic of Moldova have spoken clearly and firmly about where they want to see their future—and that of their children. No disinformation campaign or cyberattack from the Kremlin has succeeded in diverting us from our legitimate aspiration to join the European Union. We now count on the support of member states to move forward to the next stage—opening negotiation clusters,” stated Mihai Popșoi.
During the event, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi held bilateral meetings with several EU counterparts and close friends of the Republic of Moldova: Romania’s Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu, Latvia’s Foreign Minister Baiba Braže, Ireland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Defence Simon Harris, Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, EU and Cooperation José Manuel Albares Bueno, Greece’s Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, and Germany’s Minister of State for Europe, Gunther Krichbaum.
The discussions focused on Moldova’s EU accession process, progress in implementing reforms, and priorities for the next stages of negotiations.
