President Maia Sandu is reportedly preparing to sue journalist Gheorghe Gonța for defamation, according to a statement made by the journalist himself, TRIBUNA reports.

Gonța stated that he received a pre-trial notice through the lawyer representing the head of state.

“Maia Sandu is demanding 100,000 lei from me. Through her lawyer, she sent me a pre-trial notice requesting that I retract the statements I allegedly made about her in a video editorial, issue a public apology, delete the video content from all platforms where it appeared, and pay her 100,000 lei in compensation for the moral damage I allegedly caused,” Gonța said.

The notice further states that if these conditions are not met, legal action will be taken.

“See you in court,” Gonța concluded.
