Travelers crossing the border of the Republic of Moldova will receive clear information about the new entry rules for Schengen countries

Travelers crossing the border of the Republic of Moldova, including Moldovan citizens entering or leaving the country through official border checkpoints, will have access to clear and up-to-date information about the new travel rules for the Schengen Area, thanks to an information campaign launched by the Border Police, reports TRIBUNA.

The initiative aims to prepare the public for the implementation of the Entry/Exit System (EES), which will come into effect on October 12, 2025, in all Schengen member states, including Romania.

Through this campaign, the Border Police explains the new electronic procedures for registering entry and exit data, the use of biometric data (fingerprints and facial image), and ways travelers can reduce waiting times at the border.

At border crossing points with Romania, Ukraine, and at the “Eugen Doga” International Airport – Chișinău, border officers are distributing informational materials and offering direct consultations to travelers. The information is available in Romanian and Russian to ensure understanding for all categories of people crossing Moldova’s state border.

The Border Police continues its efforts to ensure that every traveler is properly informed and crosses the border safely and efficiently. The implementation of the new European system will strengthen security and contribute to more effective management of people flows.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasizes that the EES will support the modernization of border control, help prevent illegal migration, and streamline cross-border traffic.
