The Patriotic Electoral Bloc held a march and rally today in Chișinău in support of free and fair elections. The procession of participants began on Grigore Vieru Boulevard and moved toward the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral, where the rally took place. Over 5,000 people attended the event. Leading the march were the Bloc’s leaders — Igor Dodon, Irina Vlah, and Vasile Tarlev — joined by members of Parliament. Chants echoed through the crowd: “We demand depoliticization of the CEC!”, “For free and fair elections!”, “Our country — we decide!”, “Moldova has a future!”, “We believe in Moldova!”, “Down with dictatorship!”, TRIBUNA reports.
Rally participants called for equal voting rights for all citizens in the September 28 parliamentary elections, regardless of where they live or are located. Speakers noted that as the elections draw near, the PAS regime is becoming increasingly aggressive and hysterical. In four years of governance, PAS has failed to deliver results and has driven the country into poverty, resorting to intimidation, fines, searches, arrests, and violations of the law. Patriotic Bloc leaders urged citizens not to be afraid, not to allow their votes to be stolen, to come to the polls on September 28, and to send the “yellow plague” to the dustbin of history.
Igor Dodon, President of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM), thanked all those involved in the Patriotic Bloc’s campaign, which in just 1.5 months carried out extensive work: “We went door to door and spoke with every citizen of the country,” despite persecution and “masked shows” staged by the regime against Bloc representatives.
Dodon emphasized that the current government is a criminal group clinging to power at any cost. “Repression and humiliation of the people must not go unpunished,” he said, calling on citizens to punish PAS at the ballot box and ensure that its members are held accountable under the Penal Code after the elections.
Separately, Dodon addressed the diaspora, urging them not to allow the regime to steal their votes or falsify the elections. He called on them to go to polling stations and vote against PAS.
He further stated that “victory means nothing if we don’t defend it. We must be ready to take to the Great National Assembly Square on September 29 and protect our victory.”
Irina Vlah, President of the “Heart of Moldova” party, remarked that this has been the dirtiest electoral campaign: “It has been a true terror against the people, exercised by the yellow regime.” “Four years of governance have passed — and what have they presented to voters? A report of achievements? No, they’ve begun to sow fear and hatred.”
“Holding onto their seats, they resort to blatant violations of the law, depriving hundreds of citizens of their right to vote. Threats that ‘we’ll be punished if we vote wrong’ are mere manipulations by a regime in decline. Come to the elections so our voice is heard. The fight continues — and we will win!”
Diana Caraman, representing the Communist Party (PCRM), stated that on September 28, Moldova will choose between hysteria and order, between lies and truth. She pointed out that PAS itself knows it has lost. Meanwhile, the Patriotic Bloc team is capable of lifting the country out of the “yellow dictatorship.” “Our strength lies not in intimidation, but in professionalism and unity.”
Vasile Tarlev, President of the “Future of Moldova” party, emphasized that the Patriotic Bloc has managed, in a short time, to unite the country’s citizens — patriots who can save Moldova — unlike PAS representatives who came to power by accident, fear no higher authority, see no future, mock the people, and are incapable of delivering positive change. Tarlev called on citizens to mobilize and come out to vote, because “the future depends on each of us.”
