The Head of State Drew Attention to Foreign Interference Aimed at Undermining the Democratic Process in the Republic of Moldova

President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, met with representatives of international organizations that will monitor the parliamentary elections scheduled for September 28: the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO), according to TRIBUNA.

The Head of State warned the election observation missions about foreign interference intended to undermine Moldova’s democratic process. Among the key concerns, the President highlighted the illegal financing of anti-European forces as a primary tool of external influence, along with vote-buying networks coordinated by criminal groups, large-scale disinformation campaigns, cyberattacks, paid protests, and attempts to divide society.

Maia Sandu called for thorough monitoring of the elections to expose any foreign influence attempts, ensuring that the freely expressed will of the voters is respected. She emphasized that state institutions are acting firmly and in coordination to counter any manipulation of the electoral process.

“Moldovans must decide for Moldovans,” Maia Sandu declared.

Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO) will oversee the fairness of the elections, thereby enhancing transparency and safeguarding the citizens’ will.
