Moldovan speaker on visit to Armenia

Speaker Zinaida Greceanii pays an official visit to Armenia at the invitation of the National Assembly of the country, Ararat Mirzoian, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

The Moldovan parliamentary delegation is made up of Gaik Vartanean, head of the Friendship Group with Armenia, member of the commission for foreign policy and European integration; Elena Bacalu, head of the commission for social protection, health and family, and Vladimir Mizdrenco, member of this commission; Chiril Moţpan, member of the National Security, Defense and Public Order Commission; Adrian Albu, Parliament’s Secretary General.

Greceanii will hold a bilateral meeting with Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoian, and subsequently will attend a meeting of parliamentary delegations from Moldova and Armenia.

The speaker will meet with President of the Republic of Armenia Armen Sarkisian at the state residence in Yerevan.

Also, Zinaida Greceanii will meet with His Holiness Karekin II, Catholic and Supreme Patriarch of All Armenians, and will visit the museum and the patriarchal residence.

The agenda also includes a meeting with Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pasinian.

The delegation will visit an important company in Yerevan and the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts Matenadaran.

The speaker’s official visit to Yerevan is the first in the history of Moldovan-Armenian interparliamentary relations.

Moldova and Armenia set up diplomatic relations on 18 July 1992.
