More than 1 billion 24 million lei will be allocated this year from the road fund for the routine maintenance of national public roads, but also for the execution of the repair works. The program for the allocation of the funds for the road fund in 2019 was approved today at the meeting of the Road Fund Council, chaired by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, informs TRIBUNA.
According to a Government press release, 498 million lei will be used for road maintenance, and 333 million lei will be directed to carry out repairs to 15 road sections. At the same time, more than 64 million lei will be allocated for co-financing of road rehabilitation projects. In the talks, according to the same press release, other issues related to road infrastructure were also addressed. Pavel Filip called for an analysis of how the use of financial means by the road fund to the local public administration should be carried out in order to ensure the efficient use of public money.
At the same time, a mechanism is in place to guarantee the payment of the taxes on all drivers. At present, more than 1 million transport units are registered in the Republic of Moldova, but only about 565 thousand car owners pay the road tax.
The prime minister also called for consideration to be given to the possibility the introduction of a new formula for the calculation of excise duties on diesel and petrol, taking into account the specific nature of the agricultural activity.
