Andrei Nastase and Ana Blandiana- the first honorary citizens of Iasi, the historical capital of Romania

The leader of the Dignity and Truth Platform, Andrei Năstase, the co-president of the  Bloc NOW and Chişinău’s elected mayor, received the title of Honorary Citizen of Iaşi, writes jurnal.md.

As TRIBUNA informs, with reference to the cited source, the decision was approved yesterday at the meeting of the Local Council of Iasi.

“Granting this title to Andrei Nastase is a remedial measure. He is a lawyer, civic activist and politician in the Republic of Moldova, the president of the Dignity and Truth Platform. In 2018, Andrei Năstase won the elections for the post of mayor of Chisinau, but the Central Electoral Commission cancelled the results of the elections in the capital of the Republic of Moldova. This clearly shows that the situation in the Republic of Moldova is very serious and worrying for everyone”, said the mayor of Iasi Mihai Chirica.

Also, the poetess Ana Blandiana, the founder of the Civic Alliance in Romania, received yesterday the title of honorary citizen of Iasi. Her Excellency Ana Blandiana is one of the most famous Romanian authors.”Her Excellency Ana Blandiana is one of the most famous Romanian authors. She is the author of 26 books published in Romanian and 60 volumes published in 26 languages. The poetess is also a well-known fighter for civic freedom in Romania. In January 1993, together with Romulus Rusan, he was the initiator of the Sighet Memorial, and in April 1995 of the Civic Academy, which he leads from the beginning to the present. From 2016 Ana Blandiana is a correspondent member of the Romanian Academy. The poet’s creation was rewarded with numerous and prestigious awards, “Mihai Chirica said.

It is worth mentioning that on 23 January 2019, Iasi was declared “Historical Capital of Romania”.
