President of the Republic of Moldova Igor Dodon awarded today the SunStroke Project group musicians with the highest state awards for their considerable contribution in promoting the image of the country. Moldovan performers took the third place in the international song contest “Eurovision-2017” on May 13 in Kiev.
The soloist of the group Sergey Yalovitsky, violinist Anton Rogoza, and saxophonist Sergei Stepanov were awarded the “Order of Honor”. The group’s impresario Dmitry Sergeyev was awarded the medal “For Civil Merit”.
“The feelings and emotions that we experienced at the end of the last week, when the final of the Eurovision Song Contest was held, is what our citizens lacked for the last decades. Thanks to the guys from the “SunStroke Project” group, the people of our country felt proud for being citizens of the Republic of Moldova,” the Head of State said.
Igor Dodon thanked representatives of the SunStroke Project group for what they did for the image of the country. According to the President, Moldovan perfomers have done more than many ambassadors in their entire diplomatic career.
“You raised the prestige of the country to the highest level,” the Head of State stressed.
A very important point, according to Dodon, was the fact that the SunStroke Project group presented at Eurovision both banks of the Dniester.
“You represented all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova: both the left and the right bank of the Dniester. Those who speak Moldovan, and those who speak Russian, Bulgarian, Gagauz, Ukrainian and even Romanian. You represented everyone. You are our heroes! Very often not everything is done by ourselves, but in spite of everything. And for this I want to tell you an honest sincere thank you very much!”, Concluded the President of Moldova.
