At the Anti-Corruption Platform meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dorin Recean, participants discussed the results of interinstitutional cooperation in combating electoral corruption, efforts to ensure the integrity of the electoral process, and priorities for advancing justice reform.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Moldova is currently implementing the most ambitious and complex justice reform in its history — a process crucial for strengthening institutions and creating a fair and secure environment for citizens and investors.
“Justice reform is fundamental, because only the rule of law guarantees the irreversibility of reforms. We have a duty to move forward with greater determination and speed, so that no person with integrity issues holds positions as judges or prosecutors, so that corruption cases are examined swiftly and fairly, stolen funds are recovered faster, and the independent institutions we are building become resilient and citizen-oriented,” Recean stated.
He also noted that this autumn’s elections were a major test, during which authorities dismantled a network funded from external sources and designed to undermine Moldova’s democracy: “We would not have withstood this hybrid attack from the Russian Federation, via criminal groups, if our institutions weren’t prepared, equipped with the right mechanisms, and led by people of integrity. The elections proved the strategic role of justice in national security,” said the Prime Minister.
The meeting also addressed legislative changes in preventing and combating electoral corruption, sanctions applied, actions taken to ensure electoral integrity, and the importance of effectively investigating electoral cases.
The Anti-Corruption Platform is a consultative body under the Ministry, established to improve coordination of anti-corruption policies, encourage active institutional engagement, and strengthen interinstitutional cooperation.
