In October, the Russian Federation’s attacks on Ukraine continued with the same intensity, causing destruction and civilian casualties, including children. As a result of these attacks, the airspace of the Republic of Moldova was violated 19 times in the districts of Căușeni, Ștefan Vodă, Anenii Noi, Hâncești, Ocnița, Dondușeni, Telenești, Călărași, Ungheni, and Edineț, as well as in four localities in the Transnistrian region, TRIBUNA reports, citing the Ministry of Defense.
On October 3, five incidents resulted in drones exploding upon impact with the ground. The incidents occurred outside the city of Căușeni and in the localities of Constantinovca (Căușeni district), Crocmaz (Ștefan Vodă district), Puhăceni (Anenii Noi district), and Dubovca (Hâncești district).
Another incident involving a drone explosion was recorded on October 16, near the village of Scăieni, in Dondușeni district.
Against the backdrop of growing aerial threats, developing modern capabilities for surveillance, detection, and neutralization has become an urgent necessity for national defense.
Preventing incidents that could have serious consequences for the security of citizens and critical infrastructure requires timely investment in the National Army’s capacity to respond to these threats.
Since the beginning of 2026, a total of 67 incidents involving violations of the Republic of Moldova’s airspace have been recorded. Since 2022, the total number of documented incidents has reached 104.
The Ministry of Defense reiterates its appeal to citizens to immediately notify the authorities by calling the 112 emergency service if they discover drones or their fragments.
