Constitutional Court Declares Legislative Amendments Allowing Herman von Hebel’s Appointment to Prosecutors’ Evaluation Commission Unconstitutional

The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova has declared unconstitutional the legislative amendments that allowed Herman von Hebel to be appointed as a member of the Commission for the Evaluation of Prosecutors, TRIBUNA reports.

Today, the Court upheld a referral submitted by MPs Ion Chicu, Alexandru Berlinschii, Adrian Lebedinschi, Diana Caraman, and Alexandru Verșinin.

“I thank my legal colleagues from the PDCM for drafting the referral to the Constitutional Court. I thank my fellow MPs who co-signed the referral for their support and active involvement! We also thank the Venice Commission for its objective and well-reasoned opinion!

The ‘von Hebel Law’ has been declared unconstitutional,” Ion Chicu stated.
